ABOUT CCS

(THE CORNERSTONE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL)

From Then...

The Cornerstone Christian School in Manchester, Connecticut, was born in prayer. Over the course of the 1979-1980 school year, God laid a burden to pray for their children on the hearts of a women's Bible study group that met at the Manchester Church of the Nazarene. The vision to open a Christian school came directly from that burden of prayer. Through a series of miracles, much hard work, and God's blessing, The Cornerstone Christian School opened its doors in September of 1981 to 56 students in K-6. The school continued to add grades, moving forward in expansion to its first graduating class in June of 1990.

Beginning in June of 1988, Cornerstone's K-8 program became accredited for the first time, as well as recognized by the Connecticut Department of Education as an approved school. In June of 2012, CCS expanded its accreditation to include a high school program. In December of 2015, CCS applied for and became approved as a dually accredited K-12 school.

...To Now

God has been faithful to meet all Cornerstone's needs for physical expansion. He has strengthened, healed, and unified the school through challenging times, when frankly, the devil was hard at work seeking to tear it apart.

Since inception, The Cornerstone Christian School has been committed to partnering with families and their churches in the education of their children. CCS has faithfully continued to make Christian education available to students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and from all over the region. Today, Cornerstone's full- and part-time faculty and staff of nearly 40 serves approximately 170 students in PreK-12 from over 30 different churches and many denominations. The school's graduation rate is 100%, with 94% of its graduates going on to attend college.

God was on the move in 1979 when His Spirit impressed a burden of prayer on the hearts of a women's Bible study group to pray for their children. The same God is on the move today, helping The Cornerstone Christian School continue to be a beacon of light and hope in this dark world!

Cornerstone’s first high school graduation took place in 1990. Over the past three decades, several hundred students have received their high school diplomas from Cornerstone. Graduates have gone on to fill many positions across many fields in many communities, states, and even countries. As a sampling of the impact that CCS has had on individual lives, their communities, and the world, look at the career paths of some of the Cornerstone graduates through the years: owner of and clinician in a mental health agency, published author, managing editor of large coalition, college professor, pastor, teacher (public and private), mission field worker (international and stateside), engineer, college student advisor, military nurse, actuary, high school administrator, chemist, musician, small business owner, community leader, research assistant, senior research analyst, director of operations, college director, media specialist, Peace Corps volunteer (international), and so much more.
